THE MARIO’S GROUP OF RESTAURANTS
The Mario’s Group, the brainchild of Mario L. Benitez (after whom the restaurant was named) and Nenuca V. Benitez, has become a classic gastronomic experience in fine dining. After more than 3 decades of impeccable service and exquisite selection of continental cuisine, it still remains true to its proud tradition. With a versatility to suit the lifestyle of the ever changing, discriminating palate.
The first ever Mario’s was opened in Baguio City on September 1, 1971, origins of the legendary Mario’s Ceasar Salad, Mario’s Pizza and the Steak A la Pobre. It started as a "hole in the wall" at the upper portion of Session Road across the famous Patria de Baguio. This quaint restaurant rose to popularity and especially lured visiting Manilans where dining at Mario’s was a "must" during their stay at the summer capital.
Due to overwhelming popular demand, Mario and Nenuca, with the help of their children, decided to expand and thus opened Mario’s Quezon City in November 1981 at Tomas Morato Avenue. This attracted nearby residential clients, interesting government persons, corporate executives and movie stars.
Mario’s old and new habitues will be treated once again to ecclectic mix of epicurean delights in this cozy and elegant restaurant, graced with a typically Southern California style. Appetizers such as Gambas al Ajillo, Salpicado, Sopa de Mariscos is just as irresistable as the Barbecued Spareribs, Indonesian Sates, Callos Madrileña and many more. Progressive new menus such as Shrimp Marucca and other light pasta, sandwich and salad dishes await the young executives "on the go" at very affordable prices.
"We would like to incorporate in our menus", according to dynamic Mrs. Nenuca Benitez, who is usually seen overseeing the kitchen operations in all the Mario’s branches. Mario’s QC is still considered one of the best fine dining establishments in that part of the city although there is stiff but friendly competition among the neighboring restaurants on that avenue.
Indeed, after almost four decades, The Mario’s Group of Restaurants is moving into Mario’s the Next Level. This is through innovative moves such as re-making image from pricey fine dining to casual elegant, value for money and a trendier look and healthy menu. Mario’s once again continues on its journey of presenting "dining, the Mario’s way".
